I am often fascinated by signage, especially roadside signage and strip mall placards. I like the way different advertisements and names of businesses interact, supporting or undermining each other and producing unintentional and ironic meanings. Both these photos were taken near where I was staying in Hollywood, in December 2010. |
The following one I took on an earlier trip, when I stayed the night in Barstow, California, on my way from L.A. to Las Vegas. No one stays in Barstow, I was told, by several people. It's just a place you drive (or in my case, bus) - through. I think that's why I stayed....
